Moonlady Designs

I was just thinking today about how much I love making pads. I love them. I love the process of making them, how it challenges me; I have designed my own pads from the ground up! I started with ideas and now I have pads!

I love looking at my finished product, how good it looks. It makes me proud. I use these pads myself every month. I give them to my friends as gifts. I think they are good and worthy of my pride.

I love how good they make women feel about their bodies, especially their genitals and periods. Aspects of our embodiment that society tells women are bad and wrong, can become enjoyable and creative. I love the way they make women feel healthier and happier about their periods.

This is good Work to be doing. And I love it.

New shapes! Stuff in stock! [Sep. 11th, 2008|04:53 am]
Moonlady Designs

I'm really happy to give you a sneak preview of the new shape of Moonlady Pads, as well as to offer some new pads in stock. The new shape was inspired by feedback from my customers and I hope you like these pads :)

First, the new shape:

The new shape is similar to the old, but I have made the wings wider and straighter at customer request. The shape of the contour core is the same (just under 2.5 inches wide at the narrowest point.) These pads are fantastically comfortable.

Next, what's in stock:

These are six Long Mini Pads. They are 9 inches long, about 2.4" wide in the center when snapped. Three layers of cotton flannel, backed with poly-fleece (no PUL in these pads.) Designed for light to medium flow. All the pictured pads are available to purchase. They are $6.50 each.

These are 4 Long Panty Liners; they are 9 inches long and about 2.4" wide in the center when snapped. Two layers of cotton flannel; they are very light and breathable. Good for spotting, light flow, backup for a cup or tampon. All pictured are available to purchase. They are $5.00 each.

Shipping in the US is as follows:
Purchase of $1.00- $20.00: $2.00 shipping
Purchase of $20.01-$30.00: $2.50 shipping
Purchase of $30.01 or above: FREE shipping!

For international shipping please contact me.

If you are local to Houston, TX, you can skip paying for shipping if you would like to meet me in a central location (Heights, Midtown, Downtown, etc) to hand off your pads. :)

Brief Hiatus [Apr. 28th, 2007|02:25 am]
Moonlady Designs

I am a college student in the finals crunch, so for approximately the next two weeks, I will not be making any pads. Order that are not custom will still be mailed out (comment here to ask what is in stock), and I will still accept custom orders, but custom orders won't be sewn until after finals.

Thanks for understanding!

Long-Overdue Update [Mar. 5th, 2007|01:57 am]
Moonlady Designs

Greetings! It's been forever since I've updated, but I do have some things to share.

In the past few months, I've bought scads of new fabrics in colorful prints. I will be scanning and posting them all soon. I'm in the process of sewing them up into pads; new pad sets will be posted as the photos are completed. In addition to in-stock sets, you can always purchase custom sets from the fabrics available.

I've also been working on new pad designs. Coming soon are the overnight pad, the 8-inch Deluxe Day Pad, and the Thong Panty Liner. Some of you have asked about round pads, and I am working on those and may add them soon if the demand is high.

Hand-made soak pots will also be available soon. Each soak pot is a unique work of art.

That's all for now, I must get back to sewing. :) Stay tuned!

Economy Pads- SOLD OUT [Nov. 25th, 2006|10:35 pm]
    Moonlady Designs

    [Tags|, , , ]

While I was tweaking my patterns, I made several pads to try the patterns out. These pads, I am selling as economy pads. The main reason they are discounted is that the fabric is not very plush- the stock I am building up now is made with more plush fabric. These were for practicing and tweaking, so the fabric was not so great. The top-stitching on this is a bit wonky in some places, too. However, I have been wearing a pad from this batch and it is by far the most comfortable pad I have ever used. These pads are great for someone who is just getting into cloth pads and wants to try out some inexpensive pads first.

These pads are only available in the fabric shown below:

(I'm sorry, I don't know why the Paypal form is creating that huge gap between the product description and the button! I've messed with it a bit and can't get it to stop.)

The Economy Day Pad, above left, is 9 inches long and 6.5 inches wide across the wings. The contour core is made up of three layers of 100% cotton, including one layer of double-thick cotton terry. It is lined with a layer of leak-proof polyurethane laminate and backed with a layer of light, breathable fleece. This pad is not bulky, but it is very absorbent! Top-stitching keeps things from bunching and channeling helps direct flow to the center of the core. This pad is suitable for light to heavy flow. SOLD OUT

The pantyliner, above right, is 8 inches long and 6.5 inches across the wings. The contour core is made up of three layers of 100% cotton flannel. The pantyliner is suitable for light flow, spotting, and discharge. SOLD OUT

Face Pads [Nov. 13th, 2006|04:19 am]
    Moonlady Designs

Why keep buying disposable cotton face pads, when instead you can have soft, reusable cotton squares? These cotton face pads are approximately 2.5" square. They are made of one layer of double-thick 100% cotton terry, and one layer of 100% cotton flannel or jersey*, edged with a double-layer of wide satin stitch. They are quite cushy. Use them for removing makeup, face washing, applying toner and lotion, or whatever you fancy! Then toss them in the washer. Machine wash cold, tumble dry.

Sold in sets of 10 for $15.00, plus $1.00 shipping per set.

*The fabric shown in photo is a sample only. You will receive a random assortment of fabrics.

About The Pads [Nov. 12th, 2006|10:06 pm]
    Moonlady Designs

Why use cloth pads? Cloth pads are better for the environment and your pocketbook.

  • The average woman throws away more than 10,000 tampons or disposable pads in her lifetime. She spends thousands of dollars on disposable products, which are produced with plastics and other chemicals, and end up in a landfill or in the ocean or sewer.
  • Unlike disposable pads, which must be purchased over and over, cloth pads are purchased once and last for years. A set of Moonlady Pads pays for itself in just a few months of use.

Cloth pads are more comfortable than disposables: they are soft and cozy, instead of rough or sticky. No adhesives to stick to pubic hairs or tender skin; no paper to rub against sensitive parts. Moonlady Pads are so comfortable you might forget you're wearing them.

    What makes Moonlady Pads unique?

  • 100% cotton flannel and double-thick, 100% cotton terry, quilted to reduce bulk.
  • A hidden layer of polyurethane laminate (PUL) prevents leaks, and a layer of fleece keeps pads in place. The PUL does not extend into the wings of the pad, so Moonlady Pads are breathable- no sweaty, sticky feeling..
  • Pads are channeled to direct flow to the center of the pad, and top stitched to prevent chafing and bunching.
  • Contour shaped for comfort and stability- no shifting around.

Moonlady Pads are soft, absorbent, and comfortable. They are suitable for menstruation or light incontinence.

Moonlady Pads come in these varieties:

  • Deluxe Day Pad: great for light, medium, or heavy flow. These are 9" long and 6.5" wide at the wings. They are made with three layers of absorbent cotton and a hidden later of PUL. The bottom of the pad is soft anti-pill fleece. Sold in sets of three Day Pads for $15.00, or in a set of two Day Pads and one Overnight Pad for $16.00

  • Deluxe Overnight Pad: thicker, wider, and longer for overnight wear. These are 11 inches long and 7" wide at the wings. Overnight pads have 4 layers of absorbent cotton, plus a hidden layer of PUL, and are flared at the ends for extra protection. The bottom is soft anti-pill fleece. These pads are also suitable for post-partum or post-surgical bleeding. Sold in sets of three Overnight Pads for $18.00, or in a set of two Day Pads and one Overnight Pad for $16.00.

  • Deluxe Pantyliner: for light flow, spotting, discharge, or as backup for a menstrual cup. 8" long and 6.5" wide at the wings, these pantyliners are made of 2-3* layers of cotton flannel, with anti-pill fleece on the bottom. Sold in sets of three for $12.00.

Standard Moonlady Pads have a hidden layer of PUL, but I can make custom orders without PUL- just ask!

*Because different lots of flannel have slightly different thickness and nap, I use my judgment in constructing these pantyliners, for size and absorbency. The layers may vary in order to maintain a standard thickness.
